Patricia Spencer Kirkpatrick was sitting on a chair, possibly while the family was at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where her father, Elmer E. Kirkpatrick, Jr., worked on the original construction of Randolph Field and at Fort Sam Houston, Kelly, and Brooks Fields. He remained there through part of 1931.

Elmer E. Kirkpatrick, Jr. is leaning out of a possible trolley car window. Elmer and his wife Edie Wee traveled extensively after he retired from the Army in 1958.

Photograph shows Elmer E. Kirkpatrick, Jr. and William Terry Kirkpatrick. In an interview, Terry said this photograph was taken at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. It was a preparatory school as he was looking ahead to college.
